Volvo Cars has reached a major milestone in its electrification journey, delivering its one millionth plug-in hybrid. This achievement underscores the company’s transition toward becoming a fully electrified carmaker, with PHEVs continuing to play a central role in its growth.
In the first half of 2025, plug-in hybrids accounted for 23 percent of Volvo’s global sales. Volumes have risen sharply, from nearly 46,000 units in 2019 to more than 177,000 in 2024, driven by strong demand for the XC60 and XC90 across Europe, the US, and China.
