We are pleased to offer this exceptionally well-documented and beautifully restored 1967 Porsche 912 Coupe, chassis 355215, with just 34,345 miles. Finished in its classic factory-correct Light Ivory over black interior, this 912 represents a highly authentic example with extensive history, original engine and transmission, restoration records, Porsche documentation, and long-term ownership provenance. Notably, the car is equipped with the desirable optional 5-speed manual transmission, as significant upgrade over the standard 4-speed gearbox offered on the 912. Originally completed on April 19, 1967, this 912 was built to USA-market specification and delivered new for export to the United States through Schmidt & Kock in Bremen, Germany, this 912 retains its original character while benefiting from a comprehensive restoration completed between 2013 and 2016. Included with the car is a copy of the original Porsche Kardex confirming factory specifications, colors, options, and delivery information. Following its time in the United States with the original owner for decades, the car was sold in 2013 to Jens Walther, then CEO of Porsche Motorsport North America. Mr. Walther commissioned a comprehensive restoration and mechanical rebuilding of the vehicle. The restoration work was extensive and meticulously documented, with detailed photo albums chronicling the process from disassembly through the final assembly and completion. Mr. Walther's position with PMNA gave him access and influence with the top auto-specialty shops in Southern California. The body restoration and refinishing were performed by Ryan's Auto Service, while the drivetrain and engine rebuilding were entrusted to renowned Porsche specialist Dieter Inzenhofer of ANDIAL. Inzenhofer's reputation and expertise in the restoration of early air-cooled Porsches are highly respected among collectors and enthusiasts worldwide. For those unfamiliar with ANDIAL, the company was one of the most influential names in Porsche motorsport history, building highly successful race cars and engines that achieved major victories in North American endurance racing, including the 24 Hours of Daytona. In recognition of ANDIAL's extraordinary contributions to Porsche's racing heritage, Porsche acquired the ANDIAL name in 2013. The operation subsequently became merged into Porsche Motorsport North America (PMNA).
After Mr. Walther's tenure with PMNA he took a new position with Porsche AG back in Germany. In 2018 he commissioned an appraiser to evaluate the car. This is very common in Germany . A respected firm, Classic Analytics completed the detailed vehicle inspection. The examination encompasses a comprehensive evaluation of the vehicle's cosmetic, mechanical, and structural condition. A road test is included. The final report noted the vehicle's strong mechanical performance and well-preserved condition. Classic Analytics ultimately awarded the car the highest possible Condition Grade 1 rating.
Mr. Walther enjoyed the car in Germany, where it was driven and registered. Accompanying the vehicle is an official Porsche Germany certification and homologation document verifying the chassis number, factory production date, technical specifications, and original USA export configuration for German registration purposes. This rare factory-issued document further supports the car's authenticity and traceable history. Isringhausen acquired the car from Mr. Walther in Germany and subsequently imported the car back to the United States, where it remains today at our Porsche Center as an exceptionally sorted and highly documented example. The accompanying records include, Copy of Porsche Kardex, Official Porsche Deutschland Technical Data Sheet and Manufacturer Certification Letter- in support of German registration and homologation of VIN 355215, German inspection and registration records, Extensive restoration photo documentation, Restoration invoices and parts records, Engine and drivetrain rebuild documentation. This 912 presents today as an honest, well-restored, and highly collectible example with exceptional provenance, international history, and documentation rarely seen on early Porsche cars of this era.
