Volvo Cars is working with Google to bring a new generation of AI-driven, contextually aware driving experiences to future models. The upcoming EX60 will showcase early capabilities powered by Google Gemini, allowing the vehicle to interpret its surroundings in real time with the driver’s permission. This includes understanding road signs, lane markings, landmarks and other details that support clearer, more confident driving.
A simple example is parking. Instead of guessing whether a space is valid, the vehicle will be able to read and interpret restrictions instantly, giving drivers guidance right when they need it. These early concepts highlight how future Volvo models may use advanced onboard processing and multi-modal AI to make everyday driving more intuitive.
Immersive Navigation Arrives Soon
Volvo will also be among the first to introduce Immersive Navigation from Google Maps. This new 3D experience brings routes to life with detailed buildings, tunnels and overpasses, making complex roads easier to understand at a glance. Voice guidance will also feel more natural by referencing real-world landmarks, helping drivers stay oriented without distraction.
Immersive Navigation will debut in the EX60, EX90 and ES90.
A Partnership Focused on Real-World Benefits
These advancements reflect the ongoing collaboration between Volvo Cars and Google as both companies work to bring meaningful intelligence into the vehicle cabin. From AI-powered environmental awareness to next-generation navigation, the goal is to support drivers with technology that feels clear, calm and genuinely helpful.
